Albury House in The Corinthia Hotel London!

Our news

At the beginning of October, Albury House Interiors were tasked with a unique and exciting project: creating moss bowls for the prestigious Corinthia Hotel London.

What are moss bowls?

Moss bowls are decorative items that bring a small piece of the outdoors, indoors. They are typically made by arranging preserved or dried moss in a bowl or container, creating a lush, green display that requires little to no maintenance. Dried moss can have a duller shade of green because of the way it has been treated after being harvested. Preserved moss however, is cleaned and soaked in water and glycerin after being harvested. This removes the excess moisture and helps the moss keep its fluffy appearance and its bright shade of green.

Materials

To create these moss bowls we have used a premium grade, preserved curly moss, grown, harvested and treated in France. We love the texture and deep shade of green on this one best! We offered the interior designers a range of different moss bowls from our website, however the final style they chose was a small, chrome, hammered-finish bowl.

Benefits of moss bowls

Moss bowls offer numerous benefits in home design. They add a small pop of colour and texture to the space, and create a calming and serene ambience. The soft, unusual  texture makes it visually and tactically interesting.
If you opt to have real moss in your bowl, it can offer many benefits.
Firstly it is a brilliant natural air purifier, it absorbs carbon dioxide and produces oxygen which improves air quality in your room and can even filter out pollutants.
Secondly, it can act as a humidity regulator. Moss naturally retains and releases moisture, which can help to balance the humidity in your space. It can prevent the air from becoming too dry, particularly in areas where you are using central heating or air conditioning.
Lastly, real moss is almost as low maintenance as preserved moss. It does not require direct sunlight which means it can be placed in any part of your room, and it also doesn't require frequent watering. So its definitely a good option if you haven't got much of a green thumb!

We are proud to say that our preserved moss bowls are now on display in 30 suites across the Corinthia Hotel.
This moss bowl is available to purchase on our website, alongside a variety of different colours and styles.
